Meeting Minutes
Friday, April 11, 2014
Present: Diana Atwood Johnson, Amanda Blair, Bruce Baratz, Peter Cable, William Dunbar, Evan Griswold and George James
Absent: Ted Kiritsis and Mary Stone
Welcome by Chairperson and meeting was called to order at 9:05am.
No voting alternates necessary.
Chairperson requested a motion to accept minutes of March 14 2014. E. Griswold moved to accept minutes, seconded by Bill Dunbar; motion carries.
Old Business:
Earth Day Participation:
Chairperson reminded members of upcoming Earth Day presentation at Old Lyme HS on the 22nd of April. Carl Spitzer will be speaking on the environment and its impact on the osprey. Chairperson asked for volunteers to man a table along with her.
This table would provide various information regarding our Open Space in Old Lyme. A sign-up sheet was distributed. It was discussed that perhaps a sign-up sheet for possible volunteers who may be interested in open space.
Property updates:
Chairperson reported speaking with the DEP regarding the sale of some land and was requesting a modification. A. Blair was asked to check land records to see how this would impact surrounding property.
New Business:
G. James reported his concern with the future of Rogers Lake water and the future treatment of it. Contaminates could be a future concern when the lake is a resource of water for the town of Old Lyme.
Chairperson asked that we continue to keep this topic open and consider the future of Rogers Lake and possible impact to the town.
Current Projects:
Shared position with the Land Trust, if budget passes we will be in great shape to move forward.
Motion to end meeting was made by B. Dunbar and seconded by E Griswold.
